The last time I was on a Chinatown bus, the driver punched one of the passengers and was sprayed with Mace for it. New Jersey cops showed up and it was a hassle. Clearly, there’s room for a better bus company.
DC2NY is hoping to enter fill that not-dangerous niche in the bus industry by offering $40 round-trip tickets to New York. That’s only $5 more than the other companies, and DC2NY is promising a free drink and wifi. Plus, the bus stop at McPherson Square is closer to Georgetown.
DCist questions how reliable the wifi will be, but a more likely problem is that after a few trips the buses will become as miserable as the every other lines’.
Plus, new competition might incite more gangland warfare.
