OK Will- I was in the area while off duty and I stopped in to Georgetown Cupcake late in the afternoon, Tuesday. (I was out of the office for an ENT doctors appointment that ran over.) I thought nothing would pick me up like a cupcake does.........and Yikes! No line on Tuesday at 4:30. Everyone raves about Red Velvet and the owner was in the back icing up a fresh tray so I tried one. She said they're a Southern origin and she adds a secret family ingredient to make them change to red batter. The best I can describe them is buttery. The counterbalance to the rich buttery flavor is the cream cheese icing. Really nice without being overly sweet. Came outta there with a dozen. Gonna go make friends happy.........

I love these! Our office has designated "Cupcake Friday" because we all go there to pick them up on our way home anyway! We circulate a list and one guy does the pickup them we have them while we do our end of week wrapup meeting. The favorites: Coconut, Choc3, and we have this one holdout who wants "whatever the fresh fruit is". They're fabulous; the staff has recently gotten new boxes, too so the ride home on the metro doesnt take a toll on your little precious cargo. These are amazing.

I have met the sisters and they are very sweet, so I seriously doubt that they said I don't care, but if they did I am sure they regret it. Georgetown Cupcake is the best in DC and is a great concept, they are better than Baked and Wired and frankly, I have gotten more bad attitude at Baked and Wired than I ever have at Georgetown Cupcake.

This bakery is selling a high quality low volume item that is well worth the wait. Celebs and just plain folks wait to score one or a dozen of these little cupcakes while the people in line before them exit triumphantly as though they had just scored final four tickets. You have to do it to understand it. The little girl behind the counter will treat your order much like the Michelin Man, Bibbendums caresses his tires as they leave the factory. What could be better?

WOW - that is really bad. Next time your wife needs a sweet you should get her something from Baked & Wired in Georgetown, they are located down the street from Barnes & Noble. You won't be disappointed!

THERE'S SOMETHING NASTY UNDER ALL THAT ICING. I just drove down today from Bethesda after a doctor's visit with my sick wife who wanted something sweet at Georgetown Cupcake. When I arrived at noon, the door was closed, with a note that said knock if you called ahead. A woman came up and knocked and the owner opened the door. I inquired as to the shortly and she said we are closed now -- even though the posted time on the wall said they should be open. I said this is the second time I have come here and you were out of product or now this time closed. She said and I quote, "We don't care". I asked her again if she means she doesn't care that customers are inconvenienced and to please repeat what she said and she repeated herself verbatim. That will be my last visit.
