Clare's defense is admirable but hilarious. Extensive news coverage? Like what, Rivers transferring out--something that can't get on the Voice blog, even though everyone apparently wants to read about the DC schools super? The Voice hasn't proved prowess at anything except larding up a blog with pointless entries that only get comments from Voice staffers. Yeah, it's pretty ridiculous that The Hoya can't seem to run a blog, despite numerous tries. But their web site is far more interactive -- the point of a blog, no? -- than the Voice's, now that readers can (and do) weigh in on stories.

Two more points--there haven't really been major "scoops," by any paper, contrary to this argument about "prowess in journalism." (Ooh, we "broke" the hate crime story). And that paper-wasting argument about coming out twice a week is pretty good. I guess the folks at the Indy must be the best on the block, since they waste even less paper than the Voice. Get real.

Concerned reader shouldn't be surprised -- the voice always takes pot shots at the hoya. You would too if you had a pathetic inferiority complex.

Contributions to journalism at Georgetown? Concerned reader need only take a look at The Voice's extensive news coverage on campus and city news that appear on this blog alone. From original news reporting on such critical campus stories such as the hate crime earlier this year and the academic life report from the beginning of this semester, The Voice has proved time and again its prowess in journalism. In addition to fine news writing, we can boast unrivaled student coverage of the arts and leisure at Georgetown and in D.C.

Just because The Hoya comes out twice a week doesn't mean its better. It just means it wastes more paper.

If the Voice wasn't around to show the Hoya what real journalism looks like, who would keep the Hoya on its sclerotic, arthritic toes?

This, however, isn't a back door:

I'm not sure how "pubication" would be a sick joke, but I did fix the typo. Thanks for pointing it out.

The number of shots the Voice takes at The Hoya is just unbelievable. First, basing this off of some back door you found into an administrative post just seems lame. Second, why do you care so much about The Hoya? Maybe if instead of trying to pick apart the Hoya, you used that time on your own publication, the Voice would be more than a second-rate magazine and would do a little bit more to contribute to journalism at Georgetown.

By the way, what does pubication mean? Is it a sick joke? Check your sexual assault story if you don't know what I'm talking about.

How's about: "Decision time at the Hoya: to post once a year or once a semester?"
