GW students still willing to pay more for the same thing
Posted by: Anna Bank in Arts and EntertainmentThe Hatchet, GW’s campus newspaper, sent out a “Breaking News alert” earlier this week announcing that Robin Williams will be headlining the University’s Colonials Weekend (a sort of Homecoming) this fall. That’s OK if you liked Patch Adams, but tickets will set GW students back an exorbitant $57 to $150.
Aside from being an insanely large sum to pay for the guy from Mrs. Doubtfire and Jumanji, it’s especially funny because Georgetown students got to see Williams for free a couple semesters back when he appeared as a guest on Hardball that was filmed in Gaston.

Seriously, who would pay that much for Robin Williams?

oh gw.
i was so pleased that the hatchet put out a summer issue. perhaps more amusing than any jokes robin williams will make is their “best of the crime log” article (http://media.www.gwhatchet.com/media/storage/paper332/news/2008/06/13/News/Best-Of.The.Crime.Log-3381817.shtml), featuring a variety of drunken students either urinating in inappropriate places (my fav is the one outside the white house who gets picked up by secret service agents) or antagonizing their roommates, as well as a fair amount of sexual deviancy.
which reminds me: their sex column (http://media.www.gwhatchet.com/media/storage/paper332/news/2008/06/13/CiGuide/Sex-Column.Advice.Youll.Never.Get.From.Mom.And.Dad-3381833.shtml). oh god. i think it’s probably worse than “between the sheets.” this one actually referred readers to cosmopolitan for sex tips. first of all: outsourcing on your very first column? also: cosmo!? really?

Have you seen “Robin Williams Live on Broadway”? Maybe the funniest thing I’ve ever seen. Robin Williams can be a different guy than the one in Jumanji and Patch Adams. If this is even half as funny as RWLoB, it is worth the price of admission.
