Gun robbery on 34th Street
Posted by: Will Sommer in News, Vox Populi, tags: Crime, DPS, RobberyStudents just got this Public Safety Alert about an armed robbery last night on the 1400 block of 34th Street:
On Sunday, November 2, 2008, at approximately 11:06 p.m., a student reported to DPS and MPD that a black male with a silver handgun, approached her from behind and stated, “Give me your bag and phone.” The suspect took the bag that contained a laptop, Blackberry cell phone, a wallet containing a driver’s license, debit card and twenty dollars in U.S. currency. The suspect then fled in an unknown direction.
This one is more worrisome than the usual armed robbery because a gun was involved. I don’t have the relevant PSA in my e-mail, and PSAs disappear eventually disappear from the Department of Public Safety website, but I think the last Georgetown gun crime happened early last semester.
