A lot of tattoo shops, especially more upscale one such as Jinx Proof, have policies against letting friends in the room where a tattoo or is being given. Even if the shop doesn't have a set policy on it, if the friends appear intoxicated at all they probably wouldn't be allowed back for fear of them getting roudy or loud and distracting. It's in the interest of the safety of the customer, and also to guarantee the quality of the tattoo. The customer needs to be very still while getting the tattoo - if they move they risk causing the tattoo artist to make a mis-stroke.
