John DeGioia a Washingtonian of the Year

Maybe you’ve seen him around campus.
Every January, Washingtonian Magazine gives a thumbs up to 12 local leaders in its “Washingtonians of the Year” feature–and this year, none other than Jack DeGioia himself can be found among 2008’s twelve “men and women who give their time and talents to make this a better place for all of us.”
So we know at least someone has access to our President.
The January issue of the magazine hit newsstands on Thursday, but won’t be online until the first of the new year. For those of you without access to the glossy, though, the Office of Communications has an overview of DeGioia’s profile.
Not surprisingly, he got points for campus outreach to the District (the article fusses over the Meyers Institute for College Preparation, which has seen expansion during DeGioia’s time in office, especially through grants) and for being globalized (Qatar and the international law school in London).
This isn’t the first time the Washingtonian has recognized DeGioia’s D.C. influence. Last year, they named him among their picks for the District’s “most influential people in education and local government” in their Power 150 series.
