Dance Dreams

Editor’s Note: This is the first post of a new Vox feature, “Remix Your Weekend.”  “Remix Your Weekend” will feature our pick of great mash-ups and remixes to help you spice up your weekend party.

A far cry from the complexities of mash-up artists like Girl Talk, Milkman and Super Mash Bro’s, the simpler tracks of Divide & Kreate still go a long way towards getting your friends on their feet at even the most drab of parties. “Dance Dreams,” a fun little combo of the classic 80’s super pop single “Sweet Dreams” by the Eurythmics and Lady Ga Ga’s currently ubiquitous hit “Just Dance”, will no doubt satisfy all your party song needs.

Critics might write off such traditional mash-ups as boring, simplistic, and backwards, and most of the time I’d agree with them. A fair number of these old-fashioned mash-ups are indeed overly simplistic, but that doesn’t mean you necessarily need to incorporate 20 different tracks into a 2 minute time-frame to make an exciting mash-up (plus, that trend certainly isn’t do much to solve the problem of ever-shortening attention spans).

Even as a simple mash-up DJ, Divide & Kreate has all the talents and attraction of even his most tweaked out colleagues.  So download his track, upload that stunnah onto your pod, turn your Ghetto-Blaster up to 11, and watch as your friends (along with that cute gal/guy you’ve been crushing on) squirm in auditory ecstasy listening to this gem of a mash-up.
