Super Mash Bro's

When I first heard Super Mash Bro’s about a year ago I was quite underwhelmed. Their first album, Fuck Bitches. Get Euros. was full of weak transitions and abrupt instrumental shifts. Don’t get me wrong, there were a couple gems on that CD (which is still available for download off of their website), but for the most part it seemed that Girl Talk would continue to be the undisputed champ of the new wave of mashup DJs.

Los Angeles natives Dick Fink and Nicolas Fenmore (AKA Super Mash Bro’s) have blown my previous opinions utterly out of the water (as well as those of the blogosphere at large) with their second album released earlier this summer, playfully entitled It’s All About The Scrillions. If I had to pick one heavy-hitting, go-to track from this great album, it would be @LaurenConrad Get Us On The Hills.

Besides the awesome title (almost every track on the album has an equally quirky name), this track continually delivers the best that mashups have to offer, mixing the likes of Jimmy Eat World, Ludacris, Devo, Missy Elliot, and even Disturbed. It’s like some sort of pop-music soup that you won’t be able to get enough of. The notoriety of this Mash-up duo is ever increasing, so download this track and the whole album ASAP.

As with last weeks mashup, and every remix/mashup to come, this song has the Vox Guarentee to Rox your Sox and garner envy from party-goers everywhere as you play DJ for the night.

The entirety of It’s All About the Scrillions can also be DLed for free here. Party on Garth.

  1. Actually liked their first album a lot more. gIf you’re interested in mashup artists like them, there’s also Milkman, Easter Egg, E-603 (better than Girl Talk in my opinion), and of course, Girl Talk

To each his own, the new one just rocked me hard. I know all them mash up guys, I was actually going to do some Easter egg next week or the week after maybe, I do like most of em better than girl talk now, but the new e-603 blows pretty hard, and I’m not a huge fan of milkmans first cd. Now that I know some people know their shit I’m gonna have to dig deeper, heh.

  3. As much as I loved the first album, the second is growing on me fast as well. @LaurenConrad Get Us On The Hills is definitely one of my favorites, as well as including NPH FTW and Adler Girl Pt. II. Love this blog.

  4. e603 is a talentless tool

    just sayin

  5. Granted E-603′s new album isn’t that good, but his first album “Something For Everyone” was awesome. Great samples (lots of indie) and solid transitions.

As for Super Mash Bros, “All About the Scrilions” just didn’t hit me like their first album did. However, I will say that both albums would be good party mixes since their samples are a lot more poppy and mainstream.

And @Scott, you’re right. Completely agree with you that Milkman’s new album blows his old one out of the water. I had the last two songs on “Circle of Fifths” on loop during finals last semester.

Also, I can’t believe I forgot to mention Speaky, the DJ whose mix people mistook for Girl Talk’s “Feed the Animals” last year. Definitely not as good as the other mashup artists mentioned but his Mashcore Vols. 1 and 2 deserve a listen nonetheless.

  6. Scott, you are the wisest music man in all of Georgetown. I love you. And I love Super Mash.

    Keep ‘em comin’!

@Ari You’re beautiful and we should procreate and have beautiful children.

@hi agreed, but I also agree with Joe “Something for Everyone” definitely has some good tracks on it.

@Abby It was hard to just pick one song from the album to put on the post, so I basically just went with the one that I could get an MP3 for on the interweb, plus @LaurenConrad has one of the better titles, next to “Bruce Willis Was Dead The Whole Time”

@Joe I’ve never heard of Speaky, but I’ll definitly check him out, I think I’m gonna do remixes for a couple weeks to live up to the title of this post, but I’ll be back with some suweet Mash-ups soon.
