Remix Your Weekend: The Weekend of Female Vocalists
Posted by: Scott Munro in Leisure, Photography, Vox Populi, tags: Kesha, Kid Sister, Remix Your Week, Right Hand Hi, Tick TockI could have posted any of the numerous turbo-charged mashups/remixes out there this weekend, but instead I have opted to higlight two artists that have set the sphere (and my ears) a-blaze: female party-pop stars Kesha and Kid Sister.
Apparently all you need to be a pop goddess is a pair of stunnaz…
You may recognize Kesha’s name from her featured artist credit on Flo Rida’s Right Round, probably not the best of credentials for this rising L.A. diva. But put her shady musical past out of mind while listening to her hot new track, Tick Tock (P-Diddy).
Besides sounding eerily akin to Justice’s own “Thhheeee Parttyyyy,” the song oozes with the sort of “girl power” pop that has been seen everywhere these days, from Lady Gaga to the Britney revival.
Track number two after the jump!
…and a lot of shiny eye make-up.
The second track this weekend is Kid Sister’s brand spanking new Right Hand Hi. There is a quasi-hypnotic aspect to this track that forces all listening to follow Ms. Sister’s instructions and throw their hands in the air whilst the song spins. Just like the first tune, this pop ballad follows the growing quasi-electro (and admittedly auto-tuned) female pop star trend that has taken over mainstream dance music.
Music snobs may scoff at these tracks, dismissing them as trashy, auto-tuned, and cliche. But that doesn’t change the fact that they will make all the ladies at any party get onto the dance floor and grind some coffee, so to speak. I’d put good money on both these tracks becoming staples at next year’s dance parties as Kesha and Kid Sister gain notoriety.
You can also be sure that once someone gets the inspiration to remix these tracks (If a remix could really be much better), I will jump to post them here. Until then, keep your pimp hand strong and enjoy the originals.
