Note: Welcome to Comments of the Week, the new feature where we find the best, worst, and craziest comments from Vox Populi and the Voice online from the previous week. Emphasis added.

This week’s comments were full of ‘adulation’ and accusation. ”George” praised Venus Flytrap, Georgetown’s newest blog:

unfiltered genius. finally.

The Charley Cooper Personal Assistant story returned, when commenter “Rosio” shamed us all:

By Bashing Mr. Cooper You are all committing a computer crime. ever heard of cyber bullying? guess what that’s illegal now, right up with texting while driving.

i organize a million things a year to benefit charities…does that make me arrogant for wanting a PA to help me help out DYING children.

i think not.

so that makes you all lack character, and common sense.

Beloved commenter “Tim” brought some of his soft-spoken manner to town-gown relations:

Hey Jennifer, when you were at Georgetown, didn’t you consider yourself part of the “community”? Since when is there “students” and “community”? The students ARE PART OF THE “COMMUNITY.” Until neighbors accept that and work WITH students rather than remain adverse to them, nothing will get better. Also, Col ’88? So you used to be cool, right? Look what 21 years has done to you.

As did commenter “Gtown residents are old, worthless“:

Georgetown neighbors, you chose to live near a university. The university has been here for over 200 years. It’s not going anywhere. Please relocate to a different area of DC. Roosevelt Island is a nice piece of real estate!

And “K” pointed out what could be Georgetown’s best class:

AND if you take one of prof. mark lance’s classes, he might make star trek/battlestar galactica references while lecturing on philosophy. isn’t georgetown great : D

  1. I don’t know if it’s a great idea to subject some comments to public ridicule. If the comments themselves are worthy of comments, there’s already a way to do that. But highlighting particular comments as “the worst” seems to be asking for trouble

  2. Not Greg Monroe says:

Yeah! Vox is totally asking for sh*t by republishing comments that people…willingly posted…on a Vox blog post. They’ll certainly get in trouble for this! Just wait for them to receive my owl! If they don’t open it fast enough who knows what magical mayhem may befall their offices!

  3. Doug, my intention isn’t to be “Haha, look at this crappy comment.” I guess the theme for comments of the week is “some of the most interesting,” not actually worst, because the truly worst wouldn’t get posted.

As for Greg, I await your howler.

  4. Oh man, I’m gonna dominate this thing. Best, worse, and most interesting posts: here I come.
