Concert Calendar: Brian Fallon, The New Romans
If you haven’t yet heard the Gaslight Anthem, you’re missing out on the young, hip version of Bruce Springsteen (I’m not saying that the Boss ain’t hip, I’m just saying he ain’t young). They spin together some lyrical majesty, a crooning whiskey laced voice, and a bit of punk rock. This Saturday, however, vocalist Brian Fallon will be taking the stage of the Black Cat for a solo show. Expect raw emotion and a good night, as Dave Hause of The Loved Ones will be there, too, to perform his own solo set. Tickets are $15, and the show will begin at 9:00 p.m. on the main stage.
The DC9 is bringing to you something very special this Tuesday. The New Romans, which features members of We Are The Fury, Head Automatica and Men, Women and Children and ex-members of Lemon Sun, have a swagger unlike any other. They play the perfect mixture of dirty New York glam rock, and for only $8 these tunes will get you on your feet and dancing. Doors open at 8:30 p.m., and like most DC9 shows, this one is 18 and up!
We are Scientists may have a misleading name, as they’re actually musicians. But their approach to playing a live show could be seen as somewhat scientific. These two guys play some grungy Brooklyn Indie Rock; something that you see a lot of bands doing nowadays. But they’ve perfected the attempts to make music fun. Their live show is half comedic, half danceable, and half rock and roll. They satisfy all the basic requirements for a good live show, so make sure to come out to the Black Cat this Thursday where they’ll be performing on the main stage at 8:00 p.m. Tickets cost $15 advance, or $17 at the door.
