Update February 9, 1:31 p.m.: Brian Roscitt has told the Voice that he and William McGeehin are dropping out of the race.

Below is the list of Presidential and Vice Presidential candidates for the Georgetown University Student Association, as provided to Vox by student Election Commissioner Ryan Gavigan. This list appears in the order the candidate pairs will appear on the ballot, Gavigan said:

  1. Hillary Dang is running for President with Katie Balloch as her running mate
  2. Current President Calen Angert is running for reelection with current Vice President Jason Kluger as his running mate. Angert and Kluger announced their intentions to seek reelection last week.
  3. Former GUSA Senator and FinApp Chair Matt Wagner is running for President with Emmanuel Hampton as his running mate. Hampton was one of four student senators who resigned from the GUSA Senate under pressure for having excessive absences.
  4. Brian Roscitt is running for President with William McGeehin as his running mate
  5. GUSA Senator Arman Ismail is running for President with Tucker Stafford as a running mate

Campaigning will begin at 12:01 a.m. Tuesday, February 9, and the election will take place on Tuesday, February 23.

Vox has included details about the candidates we’re familiar with, but we will continue to update this post as we get relevant information about other candidates.

  1. I Believe in Arman Ismail says:

Go Arman-Tucker 2010! Time to bring change to the hilltop!

  2. Politics is a rich man’s game; hail to the thief.
Our opinions are of no consequences at all.

  3. Now that it is officially the campaign period, let me state my STRONG support for Calen and Jason’s re-election. They alone have been willing to make tough decisions and work long hours to make Georgetown better. It has been an honor to work with them and I stand in great appreciation of their accomplishments. Please support them and allow them to continue their work.

  4. Personally, I’m opposed to GUSA’s attempts at club funding reform, so I don’t think I’m voting for the incumbents…

  5. @Hoya that’s called accountability, something advisory boards don’t have

  6. I am willing and available to sell my endorsement (something only a winner shall have). So far, my list of demands include hair bleach hidden in 40 one gallon maple syrup jugs, to have the fire alarms play “Hero” by Nickelback instead of bells, and to have the Taco Bell in Hoya Court turned into a Nickelback merchandise booth/emergency hair gel dispensary. Also, reserve SAC funds shall be spent on the purchase of Nickelback CDs and said merchandise. I’ll be waiting by my phone and am only willing to meet f2f.

With gracious humility in my heart,

    Chad

  7. I don't understand says:

Are nickelback jokes really in vogue right now? Were nickelback jokes ever in vogue?

  9. Adam, I didn’t realize you would forget so quickly who indeed puts in those long hours. I believe you were on the Finance committee when I chaired it – we both remember those 20+ hour weeks. Or maybe you don’t. But at the very least it’s beyond unfair to ignore the hard work done for the students and the school by the rest of us.

  10. If Hillary Dang becomes the GUSA President, I’m transferring to McGill.

  11. Someone who was threatened with expulsion from the GUSA Senate for failing to ever show up to meetings wants to be GUSA Vice President? This sounds like a great plan to turn GUSA back into the ineffective organization it was before Calen and Jason were elected.

  12. Matt,

For all the long hours you put in last year, wasn’t it you who screwed over reform (and held up the budget in the process)?

This year, funding reform is done.

    Enough said.

  13. [Fake] Tom Marty says:

Calen and Jason improved campus this year with a variety of projects and initiatives, including funding reform, low-cost LSAT tutoring, G’Town Samaritans, Saferides and more. THIS IS CLEARLY A BALD-FACED POWER PLAY! WHY ISN’T ANYONE COVERING THIS? THESE GUYS ARE TRYING TO USE “RESULTS” TO GET “VOTES”!!!

  14. Arman, while hilarious, voted against the new club allocation measures. Thats enough to lose him my vote.

  15. I appreciated his email. Its absolutely pathetic this school is closed today and his email at least leveled with student body in some way.

  16. Bruce Wayne says:

    Arman has my vote.

  17. Wagner/Hampton '10! says:

I’m certainly voting for the ticket with a disgraced GUSA Senator and a failed presidential candidate who decided a guy that didn’t show up for his last job would be a good VP!

  18. Know your facts says:

@Matt Wagner, former FinApp Chair – Adam Talbot WAS NOT on your committee last year. Regarding those aparent long hours – what do you have to show for it?

  19. [...] Roscitt (MSB ‘11) and William McGeehin (MSB ‘11) may have dropped out of the race for GUSA President and Vice President, but not before they answered Vox’s annual GUSA Candidate [...]

  20. I’m a transfer this year and I have to say that Arman is one of the friendliest people I’ve met since I came here. He has my vote for sure!
