Top Chef‘s Spike Mendelsohn may expand Good Stuff Eatery to Georgetown

Serving up hand-cut fries, mouth-watering burgers, and handspun milkshakes, which sound amazing even though we don’t even know what that means, Good Stuff Eatery, which Top Chef alum Spike Mendelsohn opened in 2008, indubitably lives up to its name.
Problem is, it’s a haul to get to, because Good Stuff’s only location is in Capitol Hill. But soon, that may change. Mendelsohn recently said that he was making plans to expand Good Stuff to other locations—and Georgetown is on the list of places he’s looking at.
Other potential second locations include Baltimore, Arlington, and Virginia, so Good Stuff isn’t guaranteed to open up in Georgetown. But hey, we’ve got the home court advantage, right?
In the meantime, Mendelsohn’s preparing to open We, The Pizza, right next door to the existing Good Stuff location. We, The Pizza will serve New-York style slices and whole pies. Toppings will range from tradition, Bloomberg news reports, like pepperoni, “to the more creative: with creamed spinach; potato and pancetta; or mushrooms with truffle shavings and Bechamel sauce.”

this would be excellent
there was a certain charm to spike avoiding georgetown. we capitol hill folks don’t get enough unique love. oh well.
so capitol hill restaurants suddenly become non-desirable once they expand to gtown? face it, many (tho not all) of the city’s best restaurants will end up in gtown eventually. it’s truly the place to be.

Good Stuff is one of my favorite guilty pleasures. Love the shakes and the ‘shroom burger. Please, Spike, come to Gtown.
If Good Stuff is Good ‘Nuff for Carol Joynt, then Good Stuff is Good ‘Nuff for me. But by expanding to Georgetown from Capitol Hill, does that make it a chain store? I thought we were trying to stop chain stores from coming to Georgetown and go after unique stores. We’ve already got the Johnny Rocket hamburger chain here. So maybe we should rethink Georgetown’s position…….or do we just want to fill up empty store fronts with more chain stores. I’m sure the “branding” experts will tell us.
I say do it! 2 DC does not equal a chain! The food at Good Stuff is about as yummy as it gets!! I say go for it Spikester!!!!
I sure hope its bigger than the last one. I love that place but it gets waaayyy too packed that its like totally impossible to sit down or make your trip there a quick one. So I hope that the one in Gtown will have more seating and more registers and stuff. That would be totally awesome.
