Then it became a tourist destination and then it became a store that sold weird and provocative clothing. If you can’t identify The Smiths, Joy Division, or Souxsie and the Banshees it probably doesn’t matter. For a while, where the Georgetown Running Co. is located, a club call “Poseurs” ruled the Georgetown Club scene. Somewhat befittingly, many of the patrons were indeed “Poseurs,” suburban youth who tried to dress like London street toughs but would scatter like flies if the real deal stepped in front of them. Georgetown was a real place then with the Bayou and the Cellar Door. Now everything is test marketed to make sure it appeals to a certain demographic. “Dream on white boys; dream on black girls and wake-up to a brand new day.”
