Public Safety Alert: Forced burglary attempt in Village A
Posted by: Chris Heller in News, Vox Populi, tags: Burglary, Crime, DPS, Public Safety Alert, Village AAt approximately 1:30 a.m. this morning, a female student was walking back to her Village A apartment when an unidentified suspect attempted to force his way into the residence.
According to a Public Safety Alert, the suspect “followed the student home [and] grabbed her arm” before trying to enter the apartment. After a male student forced the suspect away from the apartment, the suspect fled. The suspect is described as a 5’9″ or 5’10″ Hispanic male in his mid-twenties, who wore a white sweatshirt, blue jeans, and white sneakers.
Last night’s burglary is the latest in a string of four other similar crimes in Village A since October 16. At last night’s Village A town hall meeting hosted by Residence Life and the Department of Public Safety, DPS Officer Shannon Kasparak claimed that two additional DPS officers would patrol the area between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m.

So we have yet another instance of Georgetown students being preyed upon, but DPS is more concerned about the parties that are happening down the block.
My favorite is how DPS said they would increase patrols in Healy basement because they found a piece of rope (that was NOT a noose), but when students are being attacked on campus, they express no such sense of alarm.

My monosyllabic reply to @proud burleither edited? Outrageous! I wish to reclaim ‘cunt’ a la Eve Ensler in “Reclaiming Cunt” from the “Vagina Monologues,” just in the same way that @proud burleither wishes to reclaim Burleith, no doubt. Izzo H.O.Y.A. commends the progressive cunt’s snarky efforts against oppression!
My metaphysics and Indian philosophy are a little bit rusty so pray tell, how exactly is a random Georgetown student (who lives on campus) being assaulted and possibly worse if not for the extremely fortunate intervention of a bystander karma of any sort?
On an unrelated note, I think far too little attention has been paid to the upstanding gentleman who intervened. Many people would have simply walked by such a scene, ignoring it as ‘none of their business.’ Bravo, whoever you are. My hat is off to you.
@proud burleither, I thought you had grown wary and stopped trolling a university weblog. Please inform us how students being robbed on campus (apparently the only location students are allowed according to your philosophies) is manifestation of Karma– its seems like a fairly simplistic and reasonless statement meant to do nothing more than laugh at the misfortune of others. Thats sad. And you tell us to grow up?
