Get your Christmas on with a visit from the Ghost of Christmas Past. From now until January 2, Ford’s Theater is putting on a production of Charles Dicken’s A Christmas Carol. Head on over before your finals try to put a damper on your holiday spirit!
Beat that bludger
Disappointed that Georgetown doesn’t have a quidditch team? Instead of getting your robes all in a bunch, grab your broom and fly to the National Mall (7th Street between Madison Avenue and Jefferson Avenue) this Saturday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. to catch your very own golden snitch.
Slip ‘n slide at ICE!
A D.C.-area wonderland is open until January 9 at ICE!, an exhibit that features two millions pounds of hand-sculpted ice. It’s going to be a chilly weekend, but ICE! is worth the trek to Gaylord National in Oxon Hill, Maryland. From Rosslyn, just take the Orange or Green line to Southern Ave Metro station to get there.
Before that last candle is lit, stroll over to the White House to see the National Menorah. And if you visit on December 9, you can also catch a peek of the National Christmas Tree lighting at 5 p.m. Tickets are no longer available to the event, but plenty of people will huddle outside to hear B.B. King, Sara Bareilles, and Maroon 5 perform.
