Adam - to answer your questions:

1) While the initial intention behind the GUSA saferides program was to allow more officers in the neighborhood on weekends, it didn't prove to be sufficient, and we found that the program's benefit was in the response times . We hope that more DPS officers will be made available by expanding the current GUSA saferides program, but also plan to work with DPS leadership to better serve students. This will mean that DPS officers are a more visible and mobile element within our community, and we will work to keep them accountable to their responsibility of protecting Georgetown.

3) I'd say that the root of our student space issue is a little bit of both. We could certainly always benefit from increased funding. I think the administration understands our need for more student space (for both studying, and student clubs) but is constrained by many other factors. Still, we plan to work with the administration to increase student accessibility to areas around campus and optimize what we have. Paige and I want to work with students and administrators to see that students aren't restricted in their access of any available space.

Adam - no worries, thanks for caring enough to be all over this! I don't have time for a more complete response to your first and third questions right away (later today, though). But I wanted to make sure we get #2 cleared up right away.

Last week, I met with Calen and formally resigned from Constitutional Council. He assured me someone else will be appointed and that there will be no conflict of interest issues. To my knowledge, this has yet to occur, but I am fully prepared to immediately give up my place on the Council in order to make the process completely fair.

More to come later.

Oh hey it's me again, just being a crazy person. A couple of questions for Charlie and Paige:

1. On the increase in DPS patrols: do you plan to facilitate this increase strictly through expansion of the students-driving-SafeRides program, or through other means as well?

2. Is Paige still a member of the Constitutional Council? If so, does the campaign see this as a potential conflict of interest should the Constitutional Council have to provide an advisory opinion on some aspect of the election (as they did in 2008-2009)?

3. On the question of student space, would you say that the problem is primarily money-driven (there just isn't enough money to provide adequate student space) or culture-driven (there just isn't a high enough priority placed on increasing student space in strategic decisions made by the administration)?

Thanks for running and for your service to GUSA in the past. I'm looking forward to hearing more as the campaign continues.
