On the whole, there were about the same number of crimes in July as in June. But this month of fever-pitch temperatures has seen far more assaults, including the sexual assault of a juvenile attending a high school program. DPS also found anti-Semitic graffiti in a bathroom in the New Research Building.

10:45 p.m. – TRESSPASSING (Village A). DPS officers responded to an apartment which was supposed to be unoccupied, but which was in fact found to be occupied by students who had hosted an unregistered party at that location. The students were referred to Student Conduct.

2:15 a.m. – ASSAULT (Healy Circle). A DPS officer witnessed an altercation between two students, which escalated in one of the students being struck. There was no follow up.

2:40 p.m. – THEFT (Reiss). A community member reported that an unknown individual stole a bag out of his office. The case is pending investigation.

8:53 a.m. – THEFT (Yates). A community member reported that she placed her property in a locker without securing it, and that upon her return, found that her property was missing The case is pending investigation.

11:29 p.m. – ASSAULT (Reynolds). DPS responded to a call for a personal injury. Upon further investigation it was discovered that the individual’s injury was sustained as a result of an assault. Complainant was transported to the hospital where he was treated and released. Complainant declined to press charges and the case was handled administratively.

1:11 p.m. – THEFT (Mortara). A staff member reported that an unknown individual stole two credit cards out of her wallet that was located in an unsecured desk drawer in her cubicle. The cards were later used fraudulently at off campus locations. The case is pending investigation.

2:06 p.m. – THEFT (Leavey). DPS responded to a business for a report of theft of US currency. Complainant stated that when she checked the safe at the start of her shift, she found the safe to be unlocked with money missing. MPD was contacted. The case is pending investigation.

Monday, 18 July 2011

6:12 p.m. – THEFT (Lauinger). DPS responded to a call of a theft. A staff member reported that her bank notified her that her bankcard had been used. Upon that time she checked her purse and could not locate her bankcard. The case is pending investigation.

Tuesday, 19 July 2011

10:55 p.m. – DEFACEMENT (New Research Building). DPS responded to a call of graffiti written on a wall at the location. The graffiti contained racial and anti-Semitic slurs. MPD Hate Crimes Unit was notified of the incident. The case is pending investigation.

5:28 p.m. – THEFT (Leavey). DPS responded to a call of a theft. A student reported that she secured her bike with a cable lock at the location two weeks ago, and discovered it missing on the reported on date. The case is pending investigation.

SEXUAL ASSAULT (Village C West). A juvenile reported that while on campus for a summer program, she was sexually assaulted by another juvenile participant in that program. MPD was notified. The case is being handled by MPD.

5:00 p.m. – THEFT (Healy Circle). A staff member reported that her scooter was stolen from the listed location. The case is pending investigation.

5:00 p.m. – THEFT (ICC). A staff member reported that property belonging to him was missing from a vehicle that he had parked at the location over the weekend. There were no signs of damage to the vehicle. The case is pending investigation.

7:13 p.m. – THEFT (SWQ Garage). A staff member reported that his bicycle was stolen from a bike rack at the listed location the day prior. Reporting party stated that the cable lock that he had used to secure his bicycle had been cut. The case is pending investigation.
