You do not need to be the ANC gopher/stenographer. Take a strong stand on issues where the rest of the ANC is against students and go after the university from time to time. Campus housing is often not up to code and really needs to be put on rent stabilization now that they’re trying to force more people to buy what amounts to a monopoly good. Also, the police powers of DPS desperately need to be clarified.

Finally, and most importantly, stress that students are equal citizens with individuals rights and NOT a uniform class subject to collective punishment and discriminatory “in loco parentis” treatment.
