Ring in the holiday season on the last day of classes

Students gather in Dahlgren for the traditional Christmas tree lighting

Good morning, Georgetown! Classes are over and the winter chill finally pierces the air, so before you hunker down to study for exams, take some time to ring in the holiday season Georgetown-style.

Starting at 1 p.m., GPB is bringing Santa to Red Square. They’re offering free hot chocolate, coffee, and Polaroid pictures with Santa till 5 p.m. At 4:30, the Saxatones will perform. In addition, several GPB members are going to be dressed up as elves.

Starting at 5 p.m., Mask & Bauble, the Theater Department, and several University divisions are hosting the official Christmas tree lighting in Dahlgren Quad. After some hot cocoa and snacks, watch Mask and Bauble perform A Christmas Carol and student musical groups perform Christmas music.

Georgetown’s own Father Christmas Jack DeGioia is expected to make an appearance, bringing much jollity and cheer to the festivities.

Check Vox tonight for photos from the event.
