Campus Crime Watch: Madness for a Chicken Madness

This June, there were 21 violent and property crimes in Georgetown, according to DPS’s daily crime log. Early in the month, a student who was previously barred from the University was removed from Wisemiller’s Grocery and Deli. He risked it all for just one more Chicken Madness.

Also in June, four flatscreen televisions were stolen from dorm common rooms. One was taken from Copley and three were nabbed from LXR on just one day. This makes a total of 6 televisions that have been stolen from dorm common spaces in the past two months, as two flatscreens were taken from Copley in May.

Lastly, on June 24 a female staff member reported being sexually assaulted by a male staff member on January 1, 2013 in ICC.

January 1, 2013 

12:00 a.m., ICC—Sexual Assault: A female staff member reported that a male staff member had sexually assaulted her on the reported date. MPD responded and is handling the investigation.

June 3, 2013

10:15 a.m., Reiss Science Building—Theft: A staff member reported the theft of headphones. Case closed due to no further leads.

3:30 p.m., Copley Hall—Theft: A staff member reported the theft of two flatscreen televisions from common rooms in the listed building. MPD responded and is handling the investigation.

June 4, 2013

3:06 p.m., Poulton Hall—Burglary: A staff member’s unsecured office was burglarized and a wallet stolen. MPD responded and is handling the investigation.

10:00 p.m., McCarthy Hall—Theft: A student reported that his unattended property was stolen from a common room in the listed building. Case closed due to no further leads.

June 5, 2013

3:30 p.m., Copley Hall—Theft: A staff member reported the theft of a flatscreen television from a common room in the listed building. MPD responded and is handling the investigation.

June 6, 2013

4:00 p.m., Hariri Building—Theft: A non-affiliate reported the theft of US currency from her backpack. Case closed due to no further leads.

8:56 p.m., 1236 36th Street (Wisemiller’s)—Unlawful Entry: An officer made contact with a previously barred student who was observed at the listed location which is a business leased from Georgetown University. Student was barred from all GU property, advised, and sent on way.

June 7, 2013

4:30 p.m., LXR—Theft: A staff member reported the theft of three flatscreen televisions from common areas in the listed building. MPD responded and is handling the investigation.

June 10, 2013

10:30 a.m., New Research Building—Theft: A staff member reported the theft of tools from a mechanical room in the listed building. Case closed due to no further leads.

June 12, 2013

12:20 p.m., Hariri Building—Burglary: Officers stopped a subject who had stolen a purse from an office in the listed building. Case closed with arrest.

June 13, 2013

10:26 a.m., Harris Building—Theft: A staff member reported the theft of a metro fare card and U.S. currency from an unattended purse in the listed location. Case closed due to no further leads.

June 16, 2013

2:16 a.m., Reynolds Hall—Theft: A student reported the theft of U.S. currency from out of an unattended purse left in a common room in the listed building. Case closed due to no further leads.

June 17, 2013

10:30 a.m., Red Square—Theft: A student reported the theft of a bicycle from the listed location. Case closed due to no further leads.

1:15 p.m., Red Square—Theft: A student reported the theft of a bicycle from the listed location. MPD responded and is handling the investigation.

June 19, 2013

2:12 p.m., Regents Hall—Theft: A student reported the theft of a bicycle from the listed location. Case closed due to no further leads.

June 21, 2013

6:52 p.m., Med-Dent Building—Burglary: A staff member reported a burglary from an unsecured office. MPD responded and is handling the investigation.

June 22, 2013

9:11 a.m., 3600 Block of Prospect Street—Burglary: An unknown person entered into a residence and stole a credit card and cash. MPD responded and is handling the investigation.

June 24, 2013

1:31 p.m., Red Square—Unlawful Entry: A male with no affilation with the university was on campus soliciting for cash. Male was identified and barred.

June 26, 2013

10:13 a.m., ICC—Burglary: A staff member reported that an unknown person entered her unsecured office and stole her wallet. Case pending investigation.

8:44 p.m., Village A—Drug Violation: Drugs and drug paraphernalia were confiscated from the listed location. Referred to student conduct.
