Campus Crime Watch: Things get ugly at Club Lau

In August, there were 30 violent and property crimes on the Georgetown University campus. In addition to the common crimes involving the theft of property from student’s rooms, a recent string of thefts involving University flatscreen TVs have occurred in St. Mary’s Hall and the ICC. A total of four TVs were stolen from University spaces this August.

Also of note, a University official was assaulted by an inebriated student on the line for Club Lau.

6:30 p.m., McCarthy Hall – Theft: A student reported that an unattended bag was stolen from the laundry room in the listed location. Case closed due to no leads.

August 2, 2013

5:30 p.m., 2115 Wisconsin Ave. NW – Theft of Auto: A staff member reported that her car was stolen from the listed location. MPD responded and is handling the investigation.

2:10 p.m., VCE – Burglary: A student reported that personal property was stolen from her room in the listed location. MPD responded and is handling the investigation.

8:00 a.m., McCarthy Hall – Theft: A Resident Assistant reported the theft of a television from a common room in the listed building. Referred to Student Conduct.

11:45 a.m., Red Square – Theft: A faculty member reported the theft of a bike from the listed location. Case closed due to no leads.

9:45 a.m., St. Mary’s Hall – Burglary: A staff member reported the theft of a university flatscreen television from the listed location. MPD responded and is handling the investigation.

5:00 p.m., VCE – Burglary: A student reported that U.S. currency was stolen from his room in the listed building. MPD responded and is handling the investigation.

6:45 a.m., Darnall Hall – Shoplifting: A restaurant worker at the listed location reported that a non-affiliate shoplifted groceries before being stopped and the groceries retrieved. Case closed with barring.

8:20 a.m., Leo O’Donovan Hall – Theft: A contractor was reported to have stolen property while inside of the listed location. Case closed due to no leads.

9:44 p.m., LXR – Alcohol Violation: Officers made contact with underaged students who were found to be in possession of alcohol. Referred to student conduct.

11:00 a.m., Alumni Square – Theft: A student reported the theft of a bicycle from the listed location. Case closed due to no leads.

10:37 p.m., Copley Lawn – Public Urination: An officer made contact with a student after he was observed urinating in public. Referred to student conduct.

10:50 p.m., Lauinger Library – Simple Assault: Officers made contact with an inebriated student in line at a university sponsored event after the student swung and physically made contact with a university official. Referred to student conduct.

11:53 p.m., Village A – Alcohol Violation: An officer made contact with an underage student who was in possession of an alcoholic beverage. Referred to student conduct.
