Carol Lancaster to step down as SFS Dean
President John J. DeGioia sent an email this afternoon announcing that Dean Carol Lancaster is stepping down from her position as Dean of the Walsh School of Foreign Service—a position she has held since 2009.
DeGioia wrote that Lancaster made this decision in order to “devote full attention to her recovery.” Last December, Lancaster was diagnosed with a brain tumor.
When Lancaster returns to the Hilltop, she will receive the title of Dean Emerita and continue to teach as a professor in the Walsh School of Foreign Service. Lancaster has served over 30 years at Georgetown.
The email didn’t provide a date when Lancaster will return.
