To clarify, The Corp will raise its wages by one dollar per year, using the same timetable as the minimum wage increases.

Comment on Corp raises prices in response to D.C. minimum wage hike by Adam Smith Thu, 17 Jul 2014 21:31:03 +0000 Let me get this straight… DC’s minimum wage went from $8.25 to $9.50 per hour on July 1 yet the hourly rate for Corp employees is going from $8.25 to $11.50?!? Why not wait until the DC minimum wage rate goes up to $11.50 in two years time before incresing Corp costs that need to be passed along to strudents? Could it be that those who are deciding on the wage increase are also benefitting from such increases? Taking advantage of customers under the guise of government mandate will serve the Corp management well in Wall St careers.

Comment on Corp raises prices in response to D.C. minimum wage hike by Marilyn Tue, 15 Jul 2014 23:50:06 +0000 In an interview with Vox, Corp Chief Executive Officer Sam Rodman (MSB ’15) explained that the wage increase has raised wages 40 percent from the Corp’s previous hourly wages of $8.25, which apply to all employees, from the baristas to the CEO himself.

The new minimum wage is $9.50 – is the Corp going to start paying everyone $11.50 immediately? If not, then the increase is 15% ($9.50 vs. $8.25), not 40%. Next year, at a wage of $10.50, the increase will have been 10.5% ($10.50 vs. $9.50), and then bringing it to $11.50 in 2016 is an increase of 9.5%. Characterizing it as a 40% increase is fear-mongering and reactionary (but useful in rationalizing price increases, I guess.)

Comment on Comments of the Week: Cool comment, bro by Brian Kelly Tue, 15 Jul 2014 17:48:54 +0000 Don’t be fooled by “decriminalization” because citizens are still going to be treated like common criminals for marijuana under it. This is what Kevin Sabet wants.

Citizens will STILL be forced to the dangerous black market and a shady illegal street drug dealer to purchase their marijuana. Getting caught buying it is STILL a crime they will arrest and jail you for. Then, they will also FORCE you to mandatory rehab, and if you don’t comply, guess what? JAILTIME!

No thanks!

Also, we will still be wasting our tax dollars sending police around to ticket marijuana users and wasting police manpower and resources.

Instead of allowing our police the time, manpower and resources to protect us all from real, dangerous criminals who actually commit crimes with victims and pose a real threat to society.

Why else do you think they are so EAGER to “decriminalize”, instead of LEGALIZE?

Don’t Let’em Fool You!!!

If you can’t purchase it legally, then it isn’t legal.

This will not suffice! Getting caught purchasing marijuana is still considered a serious “drug deal” and you will be prosecuted for it!

Comment on Marijuana activists gather over 57,000 signatures in favor of legalization by Bud Fri, 11 Jul 2014 16:26:57 +0000 If D.C. actually does legalize marijuana how is this even fair?! My state treats it like one of the most dangerous narcotics out there and yet the same place that makes all the rules and regulations for the country it will be totally legal???

Our founding fathers must be spinning in their graves after seeing what this country has done with this issue. Absolutely sad and ridiculous. At the very least it has been an eye opener for the rest of the nation on how politics and money are actually used against the citizens of this country.

It’s becoming like an endless loop, everyone knows it should be legalized and taxed but the government just won’t let it go… Over and over again, just sad.
