Women’s soccer advances to Sweet 16 after historic win against UMD
Posted by: Abby Sherburne in Sports, Vox Populi, tags: NCAA Championships, UMD, Women's soccerAfter winning its first-ever NCAA post-season game
against Siena on Friday, the Georgetown women’s soccer team kicked it up a notch against Maryland to advance to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA tournament.
The Hoyas rode the momentum of a 5-1 drubbing into Sunday’s beltway battle against the Terrapins at Ludwig Field on Maryland’s campus. The Terrapins ranked 6th in nation and were heavily favored entering the contest, but their pedigree wasn’t enough against the Hoyas’ experience and tenacity.
