This Week in the Voice 4.25.13This issue of the the Voice features the eight 2013 photo contest winners. The winner is “Musical solidarity with the Coalition of Immokalee Workers”, by Sarah G. Vázquez (COL ’13).

News covers the student guard laptop ban and some of the guards’ reactions to the prohibition.

Leisure reviews GU Hispanic Theater’s performance of two one-act Cervantes plays, El retablo de las maravillas and La cueva de Salamanca, and reflects on their dark humor.

The Ed Board calls for more acceptance of Georgetown Day realities on the part of the administration.

Hi Voxers,

Vox just wanted to remind you that today is the last day to submit pictures to the Voice Photo Contest. The top eight photos will be featured in the print edition of the Voice, with the best on the front cover. The competition is open to all Georgetown University students. Photos cannot be modified, although they can be cropped. Both color and black-and-white photos are allowed.

It’s a great opportunity to showcase your work, so make sure you get your submission in before 11:59 p.m. tonight!

It’s springtime, and that means it’s time to showcase your photographical skills in the still-kicking print edition of the Georgetown Voice. Send your best photos to photo@georgetownvoice.com by Monday, April 22 for your chance to be immortalized in print. The best eight photos will take spots on the cover, back page, and middle spread of the April 25 edition of the Voice. Check out the winners to last year’s contest for inspiration.

Rules are as follows:

  • Open to all Georgetown University students.
  • Photos can be taken anywhere, anytime.
  • Photos cannot be modified/photoshopped. Cropping is allowed.
  • Color or black & white are both allowed.
  • All photos must be received by 11:59 PM on April 22.

Every spring, the Voice dedicates one issue to feature the best of Georgetown photography, taking submissions from the Hilltop’s creative community. Last year, Keaton Bedell (COL ’13) won with this powerful image, titled “Levitation.” To see the rest of last year’s winners, click here.

The winning photo in this year’s contest will be featured on the cover of our April 26th issue, while the following top photos will be featured on the inside spread. Both color and B&W photos are accepted.

To participate, please send your high-resolution photos to photo@georgetownvoice.com before midnight on Tuesday, April 24th. Make sure to include your name, school, and graduation year. Feel free to include a blurb about the photo and a potential title.

In previous years, Hoyas have submitted impressive displays of photographic skill. Check out the best of 2010, 2009 (Vox‘s favorite), and 2008 for inspiration!

Looking to show off your photography talents to the larger campus community? Enter your photos for the Voice’s 2011 photo contest! Both black-and-white and color photographs will be accepted.

To be eligible, submit your photos to photo@georgetownvoice.com by Sunday, April 24th. Please ensure photos are submitted in high resolution and include your name, year, and school; along with a short blurb about your photo. Black-and-white and color photos will be judged in separate categories.

Winning photos will appear in the Voice’s April 28th issue. Be sure to check out some of last year’s winning submissions.

Hear ye, hear ye. The winner of our holiday photo contest has been chosen.

After a poll featuring an Antoine Dodson cookie and a table full of holiday spirits, Jed Feiman’s (COL ’12) photo capturing the true essence of Chrismukkah led him to an unprecedented repeat victory.

Feiman’s prize is a highly prestigious, now marked-down box of candy canes.

3 days until Christmas. Festivus is tomorrow. Fun in the snow, ridiculous relatives, uncomfortable sweaters, is there a better opportunity to share the love?

Vox is calling for submissions to our Holiday Photo Contest. Please send us any photos you think best show what the holidays are like for you and your family. Georgetown inspired photos are encouraged. Put your pet in an elf costume!

Until the morning of Tuesday the 28th, we’ll be accepting submissions. Send a photo of your sheer holiday cheer to blog@georgetownvoice.com (don’t forget to include your name, year, and school).

We’ll pick our favorites, and then let you vote for the winner, who will win a box of candy canes as soon as school starts again.
