The Hoyas took down the George Washington Colonials in 3 games, winning their first home game of the season. After a long weekend, the Georgetown Hoyas looked forward to competing against an across-town rival.
They breezed by the first game with a 25-13 win. The second and third game proved to be a little closer, winning the second game 25-21 and the third game 25-22. “We were really pumped because it was our first home game,” said sophomore outside hitter Lauren Saar. “GW is a pretty big rival.”The game started out with the Hoyas taking the lead 6-1, forcing the Colonials to call a timeout. They then went on another winning streak, leading GW in a subsequent timeout 19-11.
The team quickly finished the game, intimidating George Washington with their strong offense. ““We talked about being all in the details,” said Head Coach Arlisa Williams. “Making sure that we are communicating effectively and making sure that we’re taking care of that first ball.” The Hoya’s strategy coming into this long awaited match was to stay in the system and operate as a unit.
