Georgetown Women’s Lacrosse Captures Big East Crown

Last Saturday, the 9th ranked Hoyas edged out #11 Syracuse for their first Big East title in the program’s history.

The victory capped off an undefeated run through the tournament—and extended Georgetown’s consecutive wins streak to 10, a program record.

Georgetown’s Molly Ford was named the tournaments Most Valuable Player after scoring four goals in today’s game. Ashby Kaestner and Jordy Kirr also contributed multiple goals as the Hoyas went on to win 13-11.

By claiming the Big East title, Georgetown earns an automatic bid to the national tournament, which opens up first-round action next weekend. The Hoyas will discover their opponent-to-be and seed placement during tomorrow’s selection show, which airs at 10 p.m. on CBS College Sports.

  1. Check out the orange armbands. They have to be in homage to UVA/Yeardley Love, right?

  2. Beyond the mere lacrosse connection, I believe several of the players on the team knew Yeardley well and were classmates with her at NDP.
