Free Food for All: Courtly dances and a whole roasted pig

We’re back from break and on the home stretch leading into finals, and free food is here to keep our spirits up.

Whether it’s through an unabashed love of A Knight’s Tale or a peculiar inclination for jesters and wimples, any one who loves the Middle Ages has to be sure to hit up the annual Medieval Banquet, which takes place on Friday. Free to all students, although those taking Medieval Studies classes get first dibs on tickets, the event promises period costumes, courtly dances, and even a whole roasted pig on a spit. The banquet is in Copley Formal Lounge from 6:30 to 9 p.m., and be sure to email Professor Carol Dover ( for a ticket.

Next week is Georgetown’s annual intercultural week, iWEEK, and along with it copious amounts of free food.

On Monday, join the Ballroom Dance Team for Chips and Salsa2. A night complete with chips, spicy salsa, and even a little steamy salsa as well, head over to Harbin Patio (rain site: Hoya Court) from 7 to 8 p.m. for the chance to learn a few steps of salsa and chow down.

Tuesday follows up with a Cultural Cook-Off: Sauce Competition. In an attempt to answer the age-old question of what sauce goes best with wings, the competition aims to highlight cultural identities and astonish taste buds. Hosted by CMEA and the Black House, the deliciousness goes from 7 to 9 p.m. in the Black House at 1410 36th Street.
