Remix Your Weekend: Russians and gold pandas
Taste of DC: Celebrate your Columbus Day weekend with more than 50 of DC’s best restaurants and food trucks. Taste of DC is a food festival that will be held on both Saturday and Sunday from 12-7 p.m. Beyond noms, there will be a performances throughout the festival, Ben’s World Chili Eating Championship, and the Beer Garden – featuring more than 30 brews from all over the world. General admission is $10. All restaurants and food trucks will have at least one tasting item that ranges from $1-$3.
Saint Nicholas Fall Bazar: If you’re more into borscht than beer, you could choose to celebrate your Columbus Day weekend with Eastern Europe. St. Nicholas Orthodox Cathedral will hold its annual Fall Bazar this Saturday and Sunday. The festival will include Russian, Ukrainian, Georgian, and Serbian food and a range of Slavic folk music. So if you’re feeling blini, pirozki, or anything beet based, head on over to Massachusetts avenue this weekend. Admission is free.
Velocity Dance Festival: The DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities is sponsoring the Velocity Dance Festival this weekend. The festival promotes a variety of art organizations within the District from Latin dance music to hip hop. Free performances will be held throughout the city unless you want to see them all, in which case tickets are $18.
Gold Panda at Black Cat: Gold Panda is coming to Black Cat this Saturday. Yes, he sounds like just another experimental electronic artist but he’s a fun time. He experiments with different genres of music from pop to R&B to produce a cool, original sound. Tickets are $15 and have yet to sell out.
